When does an eSIM’s validity actually start?

At first network registration abroad — not at purchase. Buy whenever you like: the countdown begins the moment your eSIM first joins a network at your destination, and you have 180 days from delivery to make that happen.

Why the purchase date does not start it

Not every eSIM seller works this way. Some start the clock when the order is confirmed, which makes “buy close to your trip” the safe advice on their site. This shop does not run on that rule, so that advice does not apply here.

It is not editorial policy either. A plan whose validity starts on any other trigger cannot be published in this catalogue at all — the publish guard refuses it — so the sentence above is true of every plan on sale, not of most of them.

Where to check your own plan

Every plan states its own start rule in its own spec table, and its own installation window with it. Open any plan from the Destinations list and both are there before you pay; after you buy, your order page shows the same two facts against the eSIM you actually hold.
