How payment works
What you pay, in what currency, what your bank will show you, and what happens if something goes wrong at the moment of payment.
The price is the price
The amount on the product page is the amount that leaves your account. Latvian VAT at 21% is already inside it — the summary at checkout shows you the same number as the plan page, and your invoice breaks it into net and tax so you can see where it went. Nothing is added at the last step.
We charge in euro. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts it at its own rate and may add its own fee: that conversion is between you and them, and we never see the amount you were finally charged. It is the one number on this page we cannot tell you.
Buyers outside the EU pay the same price. The invoice states the sale is outside the scope of EU VAT rather than showing a zero rate — different facts, and an invoice should say the true one.
What your bank will show you
On your card statement the charge appears as FIVEBARS.MOBILE. Not “Fivebars”, and not the company name on your invoice — card statements have room for one short string, and we chose the one you are most likely to recognise.
If you are reading this because an unfamiliar line showed up on your statement: that is what it is, and your order page and invoice will tell you which eSIM it was. Write to us before you dispute it with your bank. We reply within 1–2 business days. A dispute takes weeks and we can usually answer the same question in a day.
When the money moves
Once. At the moment you confirm the payment. There is no hold, no pre-authorisation and no second charge later — you are buying a package, not opening an account.
Nothing on this site renews. We do not store your card, we cannot charge it again, and there is no subscription to find and cancel six months from now. If you want another package, you buy another package.
Your card number never reaches us. The card fields on the payment page belong to Stripe, our payment processor, and what we keep is the fact that a payment succeeded and what it was for. We do not hold your card number, and we do not hold the brand or last four digits either — so if you ask us which card you used, the honest answer is that we don’t know.
If the payment doesn’t go through
You stay on the payment page, we say what happened as far as we were told, and no eSIM is issued. Nothing is charged: a declined payment is not a payment we later reverse, it is one that never completed.
Banks deliberately tell merchants very little about why a card was refused — that is anti-fraud practice, not evasiveness on our part. If your card keeps failing and it works elsewhere, your own bank is the only party who can see the reason.
There is one refusal that comes from us and not from your bank, and we would rather name it than let you think your card failed. We currently cannot sell to buyers in the United Kingdom or the Isle of Man — a tax registration we don’t have yet. The check runs when your card is identified, before any money moves: no charge, no authorisation, no hold. eSIMs for the UK stay on sale to everyone else. our terms has the detail.
If you were charged but no eSIM arrived, that is our problem and it is handled automatically: our refund policy explains what we do and how quickly, without you having to ask.
Your documents
Every order gets an invoice by email: the seller, you as you gave your details, the date of supply, the price per unit, net, VAT and total. We issue one for every sale, not on request.
Every refund gets a credit note, numbered in its own sequence and referencing the original invoice. We never rewrite or delete an invoice we have already issued — a corrected document that quietly replaces the one you were sent is not a correction, it is a different story.
Refunds have a page of their own, in full: our refund policy.
